Dear Friends of the Metro Mounted Unit,

Since its inception in 1999, Friends of Metro Mounted Unit has been assisting the LVMPD Mounted Unit with unforeseen expenses, horse purchases, a horse trailer, as well as specialized training for Mounted Unit Officers. Through the fund raising efforts, “Friends” has been successful in provide anything from bits and dress blankets for the horses to Specialized Mounted Unit training for new Officers in the Unit. “Friends” biggest fund-raiser for the last six years has been the Mounted Unit Obstacle Competition.  This year was no exception raising over $1300.00 with the help of our 21 volunteers, including 10 Police Officers, 10 Explorers, 6 civilian volunteers. The competition was again a huge success.  Also, Dr. Leslie Shur from Desert Pines Equine donated their time for the Microchip clinic which was fantastic.
